
Executive Training
Role of the Executive
The Executives provide overall leadership for the Six Sigma deployment. They establish the
Executive Committee, select Six Sigma Champions, and set goals for the program. They track
metrics depicting progress, attend presentations of projects and coordinate company-wide
communications. The Executives behavior is critical in sending the message of top management
support for the culture change. When necessary they also remove barriers to the program.

Program Description
Executive training is the first milestone of a Six Sigma deployment. In this one-day course, all the
roles and objectives are presented and discussed. Reasons for success and failure of deployments are
also reviewed and executives are trained on how to track and support the initiative.
Champion Training
Role of the Champion
The Champion manages a Six Sigma deployment at the "actionable level" and is responsible for selecting
Six Sigma projects that have a clear line of sight to the organization's objectives. They also maintain
a backlog of these projects and are responsible for estimating cost savings and initial defect levels
of the project. The Champion participates in the selection of the Black Belt or Green Belt candidates
and supports them while working on their respective projects. Other responsibilities include removing
barriers and providing resources during the project, ensuring that improvements are implemented and
that controls are in place to sustain the gains.

Program Description
This is a cornerstone course of a Six Sigma deployment. The object is to train the Champion in selection
and support of a Black Belt candidate and project. "Hands on" training in several of the Six Sigma tools
is provided during this course. The course consists of 2 days of training. Prerequisites are a willingness
to accept data driven change and to hold a position in the organization to effect such change and remove
barriers.
